Question about quests

Do we get magic exp for completing Imp Catcher? If so, can we not get exp if we lock the magic skill, or will the exp be added anyway?

Yep it does, just avoid it if you don't want mage xp.

Most player commands have been removed so you can't lock a skill's exp anymore.
