Players do login every so often, but of the playerbase you currently won't find people playing any time of the hours, yet.
As for why the server seems dead of players at the moment, the playerbase that did leave wanted updates, mainly quests that are yet to be released. Yet, all skills except one are trainable to the various degrees of completion or still lack content to be used fully.
That being said, either players have little time to play these days, may return to see if there are updates from time to time, or left due to being disgruntled over lack of updates. Of updates being applied, the main programmer, Ryan, doesn't have enough free time on his hands as of recent times to add updates due to working on projects that are of higher priority than this server in his life.
Perhaps I'll see you in game if you want to skill, as I get on infrequently myself to skill.
