Could the forum manager renew drop down menus on the default layout?

Oh, and is there a possibility for changing the "last post" link and tool tip to something useful, such as jump to new posts instead of the last post?  There already is a way to jump to the last post of the topic by clicking on the side's last post name on the topic, and a last post icon is a bit redundant.
